Not only are there several varieties of this species which are difficult to differentiate in the wild but it has been a favourite with hybridists where even when crossed with another species seem to retain the ‘lingulata’ appearance. Includes plants that look like the species but have been given cultivar names. Includes the likes of ‘El Cope’ and ‘Fortuna’ even though, sometime in the future they may be treated as a separate species.
