Mature, upright rosette to 55cms. diameter x 55cms. high. About 40 narrow, arching, scurfed green / bronze red leaves each tapering to a point with brown spines. Leaf bases have slight silver cross-banding. The arching, simple spike to 55cms. long has an inflorescence 22cms. long with dark maroon scape bracts and sky blue flowers veined and tinted green, each about 6cms. long. This is the first registered bigeneric cultivar between Bromelioideae and Pitcairnioideae sub-families, hence the name 'Alpha'. Reg. Doc. 6/2014. Country of origin: Florida U.S.A.
