cv. of lubbersii X 'Mephisto' - Chevalier said, "..a fine stoutly spiked hybrid w/richly colored bracts of a lovely brilliant redpurple - almost black. Unfortunately its branched character is not constant". Dutrie said, "Strong stem - bracts dark purple - almost black".
