TILLANDSIA ‘Alec’ | Tristram P*
The plant was collected by Alec Campbell (of Newcastle, NSW, Australia) in Jamaica (Blue Mountain or similar) in 1988 when the BSI conducted a pre-conference tour to there. He died quite a few years ago and left what was left of his collection to Peter Tristram. It was first identified as a form of T. fasciculata but recent information gained from Harry Luther suggest this can be identified as the Jamaican form of T. compressa. Flowering to 30cms. tall. Individual flowers a dark purple tube. Reg. Doc. 8/2011 by Peter Tristram. Fasciculata Group Country of origin: NSW Australia
