Sometimes a branched spike but also a single spike when flowering at a smaller size. After anthesis the floral bracts can get a reddish pink tinge. Purple petals, although there are reports of flowers rarely opening properly or aborting. Noted also that sometimes the dried flower has the pistil extended, in others the dried pistil and stamen are included.
