NEOREGELIA ‘Princess Caroline’ ? / Derek Butcher* circa 1950s?

Mature, open large rosette to 90cm. diameter x 30cm. high. In strong light, strap-shaped, lightly-spined, glossy, bronzed green leaves with some dark red cross-banding towards the leaf axils. Central cup turns fuchsia pink at blooming. Plant grown since circa1960 in the USA, Australia and New Zealand as N. carolinae 'Princeps', but bears no relationship with either N.carolinae or N. princeps. Reg. Doc. 2/2004 by Derek Butcher.
