TILLANDSIA ‘Untyed’ | ? / Pam Butler* | <2000
Mature, bulbous-based rosette to 25cm. diameter x 20cm. high. Flaring, spidery, channeled, grey-green leaves tapering to a point and scurfed, moreso at the inflated base. Erect, branched spike to 30cm. tall with 5-6 angled, narrow salmon pink-bracted "paddles" and violet flowers. Imported to Australia ex U.S.A. "many years ago" by Cairns grower Bob Hudson as T. "ehlersiana hybrid" but the source and breeder are unrecorded. In 2018 during discussion in Aussie Tillnuts forum, the parentage T. ehlersiana x bulbosa (=T. 'Ty') was proposed but rejected as not a match. Hence the word play in the registered name 'Untyed'. Reg. Doc. 9/2019 by Pam Butler Country of origin: U.S.A.
