Diego Smud of New Hampshire imported a batch of T. bergeri from Argentina in the 1970's. He later moved to the Tampa area of Florida and some of these plants were bought by Tropiflora Nursery. One flowered like a T. aeranthos and it was assumed that it was a hybrid between T. bergeri and T. aeranthos but could just as easily be a species wrongly collected as T. bergeri. Nobody has selfed 'Electric' to prove it is a hybrid and we know that T. aeranthos in the broad sense comes in many shapes and sizes. Reg. Doc. 3/2012 Country of origin: Florida USA
