Leaves distinctly striped in white, rose, and green. Mulford Foster in Brom. Soc. Bull. 1953 p.29. described and named Neoregelia carolinae var. tricolor which became N. carolinae forma tricolor in Phytologia 1967 and was completely ignored in 'An Alphabetical List of Bromeliad Binomials ', Eighth Edition 2002 but has been resurrected now as Neoregelia 'Tricolor'
