AECHMEA ‘Selena’ | Green M* | ?
Seed imported into New Zealand as Ae. tillandsioides by Maureen Green circa 1990. Mature rosette 1.0-1.2 metres diameter. Lime green, arching leaves with orange to burgundy tips and fine serrated spines. Inflorescence extending to 1 metre, usually semi-pendulous, growing laterally from the centre, but in high light may extend vertically. Primary bracts and flower branches light coral pink, sparsely fosted with scurf. Floral bracts creamy-pink with violet-petalled flowers. Seems to have closer affinities to Ae. dichlamydea and Ae. spectabilis, rather than Ae. tillandsioides. Updated Desc. 9/2024 by Scott McLoon.
