Under current ICNCP Rules (2004) Article 9, Clause 19(6), the final epiphet in Latin form of the correct name under the I.C.B.N. of a taxonomic unit at the rank of species or below is to be retained as the cultivar epithet if that taxonomic unit is subsequently reclassified as a cultivar.
