Pale mauve flowers sit high up in the vase. Grown in the Illawarra region of southern New South Wales as N. "ampullacea rubra" for years but seems to be a hybrid not linked to this species. Thought to originate from a Sydney grower in the early 1950s, possibly an overseas import, but the breeder and exact parentage are unknown. Reg. Doc. 2/2016 by Neville Wood.
