NEOREGELIA ‘Joao Marcio’ Skotak C. * circa 2001

Mature green rosette to 10cms. diameter x 12cms. tall. Stolons 7cms. long. Strongly cross-banded purplish brown leaves and dark base. Wild-collected by Joao Marcio de Melo near Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. In horticulture as a form of N. punctatissima but this species has not been rediscovered nor verified in cultivation since originally described in 1954. Harry Luther says, from this photo, it looks more like a highly-coloured N. ampullacea. Reg. Doc. 6/2011 by E. Beach. Ampullacea Group
