Huge, mature rosette to over 2 metres diameter x 1 metre high. Leathery, arching, mid-green leaves striated cream / yellow with retrorse black spines with leaf blades each 8.5cm. wide. A giant, striated species wild-collected in the 1980s in Brazil on an expedition with Roberto Burle Marx. This cultivar has a growth habit like Aechmea sphaerocephala, producing pups on short, stout, woody stolons. However, up to May, 2016, no specimens have been reported blooming in cultivation to verify its identity. Reg. Doc. 5/2016 by Eloise Beach.
